This thread will contain information about software changes and updates in the game engine. Please check this whenever you see a new post here.

  • Change of rules in demo games: The user is now allowed to restart the airline once (previously first bankruptcy meant that you must leave the game). This is a help to newcomers who are not familiar with the system and wish to experiement different tactics in the demo game.

The limit of 1 demo game per user is still in force, and once you have bankrupted the airline two times, or the game ends, you must pay Credits to join the full game.

In full games you can start an airline 4 times before you must quit, which is unchanged.

  • Improvement: Game engine updated to support games run on our secondary server. Please note: this update affected most of the game source files and there may be some problems with it. Please report any connection problems or database errors etc.

  • Bugfix: Passenger fees were not charged properly if the flight had C/F class seats (Y class fee was not paid). Result is that if you have C or F class seats, the total pax fees will raise for your airline to the level where they should have been in the first place..

  • Improvement: The daily background calculation script has been optimized a bit. This improves the calculation speed, reduces server load and pages load faster for the users browsing the game at the same time when calculation is ongoing.

This is a technical update and does not include any bigger new features, but as the technical base and database structure changed somewhat we had to clear the 2 week route history data (load factor and route profit history that you can view under 'route info' pages). This data will re-appear after a few game days.

  • Improvement: Route information page top part shows now the 7-day averages of the profits and sold seats of the route. The extended statistics at the bottom show now also the actual number of sold seats for each class and leg for each day with the load factor % that was already visible previously.

  • Improvement: Average Load Factor calculations improved on ALL pages. The avg. now takes the number of available seats into consideration and factors the average based on these like it should. Also includes a bugfix that caused wrong avg. to be calculated in case of cancelled flights.

  • Bugfix: Profits were not counted correctly in some flight cancellation cases (= some profits were posted even the flight was not flown - this happened only rarely though).

  • Bugfix: Other minor bugfixes here and there.

  • Improvement: The daily background calculation script has been changed a bit to allow future v.1.1 updates. And it's been also changed so that the day change vs. game clock is a bit more accurate.

  • New feature: Reserve your airline name.

If you are playing with your unique airline in AirwaySim and you wish to make sure that you have exclusive rights to this name you can Reserve the name from this page.

By reserving the name we guarantee that you will be the only person allowed to use that airline name in any AirwaySim games while the reservation is valid.

The reservation of the name is paid with AirwaySim Credits that you must have on your account before making the reservation. The cost depends on the length of the reservation period.

  • New feature: Used aircraft is reserved for purchase for 3 minutes from the point an airline clicks onto the buy/lease menu. This way the user can configure the aircraft with time to spare without having to fear that someone else snaps the plane.

You can only do this to one plane at a time.

  • Improvement: Purchase limit for used aircraft, max 3 used aircraft per day per player.

  • Improvement: Changes to used aircraft market.

       * The relation / number of certain aircraft models is changed at the game start (= some small aircraft models are not generated in so big numbers as some more popular models). This relation has been there always but just tuned a bit now.

       * Used aircraft market is rotated every day (but with less planes than the previous weekly rotate). = Brokers put up more planes for sale and remove planes from sale that have been there for the longest time.

       * Aircraft are rotated on the list more efficiently. If the plane is not sold it is removed from the list faster. If the plane has been on the used list too many times, it will be scrapped as broker assumes there is no use / demand for that aircraft and they cannot sell it.

       * If, like now has happened, the world simply runs out of desired aircraft the system can generate some more old aircraft to the world but this has strict limits and shouldn't happen ever - the number of planes made at the world start should be sufficient from now on. But this feature is added to avoid a total lock up of the used market if player-supplied planes are not available. But if for example every A320 is sold from the market, then that's life. This can and will happen and it is a design objective of the system as the preferrable aircraft do not just appear out of nowhere.

       * The basic concept has not and will not be changed. Which means that aircraft cannot appear magically to the world in the middle of the game (see exception above), and that the market is geared towards player-supplied market apart from the start-up phases of the world.

       * All the changes above will take a while to be seen by players as all are not done every game day.

  • Info to players: Financial and inactivity bankruptcies are back online, they were off for the last 1,5 weeks due to modifications being made. So expect your firm being closed automatically now if it's not running profitably.

Sami

  • Improvement: Automatic airport relocations upon airport closure have been improved. If an airport closes the routes are also automatically relocated for non-basing airlines. Previously only airlines based @ that airport were fully automatically relocated (base + routes) while others had to recreate the routes. Now the relocation is automatic for everyone.

Some texts / wordings in messages also improved for the airports that do not close but downgrade to secondary airports in the city (in which case relocation is again automatic for everyone).

  • New feature: Aircraft production lines (new aircraft) updated:

       * When someone cancels an order the other orders in the queue are automatically moved forward to fill up the gap. Same when some airline goes bankrupt.

       * Also all present production lines are automatically re-arranged once a week, just in case the order bug has allowed an airline to 'cut in line' and get an order to the middle of the queue.

       * When more aircraft are ordered and the aircraft production rate is increased this also makes the queue tighter and orders are delivered earlier. And same the other way around.

       * A notable thing to all players is that the new aircraft delivery dates are not fixed to a specified date anymore. They may change some weeks/months forward or backward as the order queues and aircraft production rates change.

       * The update is effective immediately. This is not the 'new' order system, just a fix to the current one, but the same features will be also in the 'new' system under construction.
