Splitting a daily flight

Hi there,

If I have a flight that operates daily between 2 airports on a single flight number, and I then wish to make 7 separate daily flights, each with their own flight number;

I deselected 6/7 days from the schedule, saved it , then made a copy and changed the day and saved it etc ...

I got charged for the slots for each new flight.

Is that correct?  How should I have modified the flight to not get charged for slots?

Close the original 1234567 route but don't release the slots.
Then, create 7 separate routes using the same slots.

If you close the route without select the keep slots option or edit the route, you will automatically release the slots.
