Fleet commonality
« on: March 10, 2011, 09:29:42 AM »
I started off with 737-400s and also added some saab 2000s but the used market for both was sparse.  I leased a new 737-600 thinking it would be in the same fleet as the 737-400s but it isn't and the 600k I'm spending/month due to a 3rd fleet is killing me.  I can't expect to build my fleet through the used market so how should I handle this?  Lease more new 737s every time I have enough cash and replace the old 400s with them?  Cancel the lease on the 600 until I have enough cash to replace all the used planes at once?  The order backlog on 737s is getting really long too so I'm not sure how I can deal with this any time soon.

you always got to look with many of these planes.

The 731 & 732  /  733-735 /  736-739

The A320 is all one group.

Then you have the DC 9 / MD 80 / MD 90 / B717  all in diff groups.

There really aren't many plane types like this in the game.

Don't cancel a lease, that is trowing away money. The plane will make money afterall, perhaps not as much. Fleet commonality is always overrated, especially in the start of a world. Take a good route, there must be enough with not all demand met! If you need many planes in a hurry go outside the box. Chinese and Russions kick ass in availibility and low lease prizes just don't use them to long (maintenance costs). You will make more money with 30 Tupulevs than the 5 737 you can lease in the same time!
