Delaying D check
« on: January 09, 2011, 12:39:29 PM »
How much can I delay a D check? Ie. can I get fined the big time the next day the maintenance time is overdue, if the FAA happens to walk in the door, or will they give some extra time, given that D checks are done every 8 years, so few weeks or even a month shouldn't really make much of a difference in the plane.

There is some delay before you may be fined, but I won't tell how much. :P   (as the maint. should always be done by latest on the due date if the plane is flying)

I think it's around two weeks, on a major D check season, I had two fines, the fine was basically something like half the D check or around 2 million. The big part of the fine is the huge CI loss though.
