Value of alliance when no planes fly to alliance member airport

Other than prestige, is there any  value of joining an alliance when one has no routes flying to alliance's member's destination or connecting airport?

in the current version of AWS, Alliances don't really provide anything other than a social aspect seeing as through passengers and code-share are not currently modelled.
