Automatically extend aircraft leases / wich setting have highest priority_

In airline setting - https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Info/SettingsAircraft - we have this option:
settings
Automatically extend aircraft leases for one year before they end

and on each aircraft we have this:
Lease is not automatically renewed (click to change) / Lease will be renewed automatically (click to change)

Is the option in Airline setting only to set the default value on each aircraft or did it have or is the system checking  this option before leasing is extended?

Can't remember for sure but I think it was so that if you tag some plane manually to renew or not to renew, then it overrides the global company setting.

It seems as if I change the global setting, the untouched setting at the aircrafts are also changed, but the manual changed settings is still as chosen.
So I assume that the status I can see at each aircraft is also what will happend when time comes up
