This is nuts! :o We're at $170-178 and a year ago in the $90s.   :-[

Where is this going? Are we going to see $250 gas in another year or what? ???

My official guess is at the peak (82-84), we should hit 500-600$. So I would gather up some lube..

~ If you can live through this, by '85, you'll be set for the rest of the game.

If is a very big word though...

I think we will see about 40 airlines actually live through the fuel crisis. I see almost everyone going BK once fuel hits 2-3x what were paying now.

This is not going to be easy at all. You'll be showing excellent airline management if you can live though these tough times.

Fuel prices are matched to historical levels in this game? I didn't know that was the case.

Oh man this is going to be rough. Looks like it peaks around '81-82 finally falls off around 1986. I better start doing some serious number crunching and serious fleet planning, lol

Yep this follows the real world timeline as for the fuel price I dont know how fixed it is but if it seriously hits $600 per 1000kg of fuel thats guna hurt alot of people - better get those big orders in now for the new generation of Boeing 76 & 757 aircraft  ;)

I am not totally sure about this, but I recall Sami saying that the peak will only be at around $300 for this game... Could be wrong, though.

If sami has used the real world trend, I would think it'll top off at about $350.

Using that graph, Oil has roughtly 4x in price between '76 and '82. We started off with oil at about $80, so 4 x $80 = $320

$600 would be about ~8x increase in price.

The good news is the Iran-Iraq war is coming and prices are gonna come down thanks to both of them cheating on OPEC. I think sometime during the 80's the price got down to about 7 dollars a barrel not sure what that means for jet fuel though.

Well were at 300 as of last week. Were only 1 year into the 6 year oil crisis.. and you say we wont go higher then 350? Meh.. I dont think so.

But lets hope your right and if not, you should start asking yourself: Can my airline withstand 8x the cost of oil?

did you look the prize history of the crude oil in the 80's??? The worst spike is now gone. And the prize will be high but not as high as 300$ if the game is following the history ;)

I think the high point was in 80/81, so IF sami has followed RL, then we should be at the worst it'll get about now.

He may have decided to make it harder by not following the real trend of course  :)

I don't need to ask if I can withstand 8x oil prices, I know the answer  :'(

If it hits that sort of level - I think it will be very hard for anyone to stay profitable without making huge price increases :-\
