Who bought Demonic's 767?
« on: May 17, 2009, 12:00:19 PM »
That 767 300ER sold by Demonic Airways at 190 million dollars was becoming a common sight on the used market.

But then, one morning, our hero looked into the used market and... Shock Horror...to his surprise, the 767 was missing! :o :o

I am really interested in knowing who bought that 767, if they don't mind, of course.
On my side, I would have bought it immediately if ti was sold for 150 million or below.

Cheers

My Guess,

He put the jet into service. It was sitting there for more than a year losing money. In the meantime a couple of big operaters went bust and perhaps he found some slots.

Personaly, even if i had the cash i would never have bought it. A matter of personal pride..lol

Well i was wrong, I just checked his airline, no boeings in his fleet. So i guess he did sell or decided to lease instead.

Id still never buy it for that price though. lol

If he was leasing it, the plane would still technically be in this fleet page. It's not there, so he's sold it.

I guess he doesn't want to tell us who bought it. Ahh well, I'm still interested in who paid that much.

Well that does it!  I've lost a fiver thanks to someone.  I was really convinced that one wasn't gonna get bought.  The only question is how does one get that desperate???

I guess if you saw the right route and couldn't find another a/c you could still make it pay.  It would have to be an exceptional route.  BTW I offered him 100 million for it.

Someone must have been really anxious for a 767...

Either that, or he just scrapped it and sold it for parts...   ::)   ;)

Cmon Demonic!

Fess up!
This is the story of the year!
Any good investigative journalist out there who can get to the bottom of this?

NicholasB.

I bet he is having a good chuckle about all this!

Nice tidy profit too.

Demonic has not been active since the 14th of May. The aircraft was sold on the 17th, when I created this article. Henseforth, he does not know about this yet. So, it is impossible that he scrapped it.

We can exclude all the airlines that do not have a 767 300ER in their fleet. We can then eclude the ones that have a value of less than 190 million. To my opinion, the player ordered the 767, but they will arrive in 2006 or so, thus he decided to buy that to cover a mega route he found for it. It is probable therefore that the player has 1 767 300Er in fleet, and some on order.

The circle is getting smaller...

There's a 747-200 on the market now, cheaper than an A321

However, there's a note states "Aircraft is getting too old to fly"

So I believe nobody would buy this :)

Air Anglais
Global Airway
Gulf Coast Air
LegionAir
Relax Dutch Airways
Sonata Airways
WooAir
Yukis AirS

These six airlines all have an own 767-300ER on their fleet. Don't know if the user has leased it forward but that doesnt sound very profitable.

So LegionAir is of the list.

Well Legion Air had to dump that old 747 that was gettingt oo old to fly, and perhaps its route was too good to give up. So he bit the bullet and bought it. Furthermore, about the same time demonics 767 was sold, that 747 for about 50 million came on the market.

If i was gonna bet a beer or two, legion air would be my pick..lol

You can't replace a 747 with a 767-300!  ???

There have been plenty of 10-20y old 747s appearing on the market that he could have taken.

This is getting like agatha chrisities book's. You know; Poirot reunites everybody somewhere and there he starts his conclusions. We are Poirot, those 8 are the suspects, and the one who bought the 767 is between them!

Dandandan!

If it was you who bought the 767, we'll find you! ;D

All those 747s that have been on the market recently have been 95% 747SR's or 747D. That is not a replacement model for a 200 series by any means. there have been only a very few that are not Ds or SR and they were a similiar age. So although the 767-300er was maybe not the first choice it is definelty viable. It has the range and it can still be configured to carry almost 300pax, its was very young and cheaper to run, and may complete an existing 767 fleet or some that are on order. Furthermore, what once may have been a viable route for a 747-200 may not be suitable now due to overcapacity from the competition. The 767-300ER that Demonic sold might have been the perfect solution in meeting demand with range and capacity.

So in my opinion the 767 is not the best replacement but absolutely viable and suitable. So i still put my money on Legion Air.
