ALG/DAAG needs more slots
« on: April 30, 2009, 05:34:45 AM »
ALG/DAAG/Algiers needs more slots.... as within the next real to two real days there should be no fully usuable slots between like 5-16. Currently there is none between 5-8 and 12-16 I think....

I know of a few other airports with this problem and I was wondering if you could bump up the # of slots  ;D

Small / heavy traffic airports can run out of slots. Nothing strange in that.

Tokyo Haneda has been completely out of usable slots for the past 5 or 6 real life days. Join the club.

Things are getting pretty tight at Gatwick too...not much can be done except try and keep the fleet away from the airport for as long as possible per day.

Guys, this is why planes like the 744D and 741SR were ever made.

If you look, they are far less efficient versus the 733s and many other smaller airplanes.  There is NO net benefit to flying a heavy when there are plenty of slots available.

Your only hope is to start getting jumbos.

Yes, 'tis rather annoying. I suppose all expansion stops until one of the 4 major based airlines collapses... :o

Heathrows completely full to capacity now. I've got 4 dc10's arriving in 1980, I just hope there's slots available then.

Can the number os slots grow? i.e. If the airport builds another runway?

I don't know if for example buiding a n runway is straightly implemented to give more slots, but the number of slots does grow as the game progresses.

Any idea when we should expect more slots at SYD, currently 20 movements per hour! Not much for a big hub!

Um, they still do. I think less than 50 airports in the world use ADS-X or whatever the ground transponder system is called.

i know that there are many grown based radar systems and transpoder systems.

Remember that the 70s was the era where many planes crashed into each other because of low visibility issues and poor ground control.

This thread is dead but still relevant.  I'm wondering what solutions might be possible if my airport has runway length limitations that do not support a 747 or other wide bodies.
