First Generation Jets = Fuel Pigs
« on: April 28, 2009, 12:15:19 PM »
Anyone losing money on CV-880s/990s 707-100/200 and DC-8-10/20/30/40/50 series?

My only loss making plane is a DC-8-50 and it is only cuz of fuel. My fan powered DC-8-62/63s are profitable

I know some airlines are full on older turbojet 707s and Dc-8s so are they making money?

I have a few 8-52s, and so far they are making money. However, in a few years with the start of the fuel crisis, I'll probably have to dumb them...

My DC-8s (-10, -20, -52, -55, -61 & -62) generate way more profit than my Il-62Ms :D

Hehehe... Those Russians are the worse :p I think compared to the other early era jets mentioned, DC-8 performs the best

how are the 707-320adv?

i was thinking of picking some of them up instead of waiting forever for the DC10s.

THe 707s are sadly a good plane until the 767200s start rolling out.

There is a need for 150-200 pax intercontinental planes, but why spend a ton on making your large DC 10 into a plane with beds for seats?
