Progress report
« on: September 04, 2007, 01:22:23 PM »
AirwaySim's newsletter has been just posted to subscribers. Here are the highlights:

PROGRESS REPORT

The game coding has progressed a lot in the last months. There is still a lot to do before the game can be released to beta stage - this though depending on the number of features we wish to include to the initial release. Pre-beta has been running with approx. 20 players and two active games to test different game concepts and to find bugs. Like already mentioned in the previous newsletter - the base game is rather finished but there are still several missing features needed for the release and also usability of some of the pages needs to be improved.

The release and beta schedule of the game are still open but we plan to start the beta in the next two months and final release target is then in late 2007 or early 2008.

AIRPORT INFO AND AIRCRAFT PICTURES

A bit over a month ago we asked members to submit airport data to us to allow us to expand the game's airport database. We would like to thank everyone who have helped with the data collection as we have received A LOT of data and the airport database contains currently 1440 airports from 128 countries!

But there are still airports missing - so if you can help us by providing airport passenger statistics then please see this forum thread.

Also we would ask everyone to check the current airport database for potential errors.
- Please see this page
- Check that all the relevant airports in your country are included and that their name and ICAO/IATA codes are correct.
- If you spot missing airports or erroneous names then please let us know of this.

Aircraft database is still under expansion, currently containing 182 aircraft models. If you can provide pictures of the aircraft models that do not have a picture yet, then please contact us!

You can also submit pictures of models that are not yet on the database - for future use. Note that the pictures you submit must be taken by yourself or you must have the permission from the photographer to use the pictures. For actual aircraft data - we are collecting info at the moment and will post announcements to the site and forums if help is required.

For people submitting significant number of useful information/pictures will get pre-beta access to the game.

Is it okay to submit pictures if they have been approved by the owner for "editorial use"?

I've seen that you are missing the new B737-900ER and in the website of Boeing Spain you have one which is open for media here.
