Royal Pacific's new scheduling manager, Tai Miskash, has managed to achieve the impossible. She has passengers departing on their return journey before they have even left Hong Kong.
Tai explains "Our flight to Vancouver crosses the international date line and so after a swift turn around, it actually sets off home before it even left Hong Kong. Our local population appear to be able to handle the concept, but our Canadian customers cannot get their minds around it. One asked us whether they would be younger when they arrived at their destination - we gave them a complimentary downgrade and 3 free nights at a DoubleTree in Boise."
Royal Pacific has one of the highest fleet utilisations in the industry. CEO Miso Hi observed "We like being up there so much we just fly our planes around empty all night". Shareholders have expressed their concern.
