IOA (Indian Ocean Airlines) is pleased to announce the inauguration of a daily service between the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius (MRU) and the Dubai International Airport (DXB) in the United Arab Emirates.
The 2745NM route will be serviced by a leased Douglas DC 8-61 with nine premium business class seats and 186 standard seats in economy class.
The flight (OI 24/25) will depart MRU at 7:00am and arrive in Dubai at 14:20. The return flight departs Dubai at 15:50 arriving back in Mauritius at 22:55pm.
Speaking from the airlines HQ in Mauritius, Mr Timmy Topbloke, IOA's CEO described the daily flight between Mauritius and Dubai as, "an important part of the airline's strategy to increase its presence in Asia. IOA looks forward to providing Mauritians with an affordable alternative to the existing Jumbo Shrimp World flight on the same route."
The Mauritius to Dubai route is the airlines second Asian route. IOA already flies to Singapore once per day using a Douglas DC 8-61.
In addition to it's asian routes, IOA provides twice daily flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, using an MD 81 as well as four flights per day between Mauritius and the neighboring Indian Ocean island of Reunion using a BAC One Eleven 500.
