Canadair confirms Modern Alliance's statement that it has recently added a 3rd fleet type (props) in order to compete in the short-haul market.
Canadair also confirms that it added 10 prop flights on the Vancouver-San Francisco 695nm route to effectively compete with jets, a route where an alliance member operated two flights by inefficient and noncompetitive for short-haul DC93 and B722 jets.
By doing so, Canadair has opened new gateways and given Canadians multiple flight times by increasing frequency on its busiest routes.
Canadair was unwilling to remove the flights but suggested the member operates props on short routes so it too can run a profitable operation.
To respect non-compete Modern Alliance rules, Canadair has withdrawn from the alliance.
Canadair wishes Modern Alliance all the best as it continues to fly the friendly skies.
