AeroFrance added the first of 21 A330-200's to its fleet on June 22nd 1998, marking the first flights over 5500nm to amongst others Argentina and Singapore.
On June 30th 1999, the last two DC-10's left the AeroFrance fleet after some four years of service. After the DC-10 replacement the company still has a backlog for 105 A330's and is focussing on expansion.
On August 21st 2001 AeroFrance received it's 100th A330, an A330-300X (F-AAOB) that will serve the Sao Paulo, Port of Spain, Punta Cana, Mexico City, Cancun and the African cities of Algiers and Khartoum.
A base was opened at Saint-Denis - Gillot Reunion on the 10th of June 2002. The company stated that AeroFrance, being the French flag carrier, should connect all of France to the world, including overseas departments. The company intends to operate 21 A330s from the Indian Ocean island, with deliveries ending in August 2003.
AeroFrance aims to provide the best long haul service and expand continuously over the coming years.
