No starliners, no new DC6/7's.

Some seriously messed up plans I'd say. LH nerf curveball for sure!!!

It will be interesting for sure. LH demand is good, but we will have to get creative to serve that demand. Look for some less used planes to suddenly be super popular thsi go around.

It's the first world i'll be playing on a serious base after messing around for a few days in the trial world. Probably i'll go bankrubt soon due to a lack of experience hehe, but let's see where this goes!

Yep, like you all know the production dates are rather random and this time it worked this way.. (since you shouldn't really fly the DC-6 into 1980s)  ;)

It's just that there will be a huge pressure on the production lines.

This is 3 fewer (important) production lines open compared to GW2.

Even without them in production (I understand the random dates for in production aircraft), the lack of the Starliner on the UM is a big hit to aircraft availability. It was in production for 10 years per the aircraft data, surely during that time some were actually produced?

Yeah... I really wanted to fly a starliner on mu RDU to EGK route, but nope. And trying to get new planes right now sucks.

The Convair 880/990 has quite a few open slots.

Ordering those means you've got a wish for bankruptcy....

Just had a look at those convairs through my mentee to have an idea. Nice planes, but drinks as much as a 707 for half the capacity? For only 10% speed more? I understand what you say, Schro, as soon as the fuel prices rise a little bit, their owners are in deep trouble.

OK, there's worse, like the Baade 152. But still.

American Airlines wanted the faster planes, because faster=better, right?
There is a reason why American was the only major airline to order them, then they sold them a few years later.
So I went with more Connies and DC-7. By the way I am always on the lookout for DC-7s, so any stored ones out there, I will gladly pay for them.

Is it me or is 3 type fleet commonality wound down for the world? I'm seeing lots of people operating 4+ fleets without feeling the burn.

First, fleets aren't big enough for it to make a material difference. Second, initial game world demand is still being filled out (resulting in higher than normal profitability). Third, costs in the jet age relative to revenue (specifically staff, plane buying/leasing and fuel) are significantly lower than they are in the modern times.

Put all those  together and it's no problem for now.... but later they will start  dropping  flies in a bug zapper.

My dreams of being able to swap out a fleet type without bankrupting have been dashed.
