Route performance
« on: April 08, 2016, 11:06:48 PM »
If I am providing ~ 80% of demand on a route with no competition and a route image in the 70s and climbing, why would I only be getting 50% load factors?

There is more demand than supply... Do they just hate my airline or something?

What's your pricing and flight timing(s)? Getting a too small warning?

No too small warning.

It's a 250nm flight, 6 flights per day. In a CRJ100

Times are always at least an hour apart and only one flight leaves between 2300 and 0500

Your frequency is probably too high. 3 flights per day on a 100 seater would be better....

This is really some kind of magic. it's very hard to guess in advance what kind of frequency you can afford on a specific line. I did just put 2 daily CRJ100 flights on a 250 demand line, with opposition(2 difference companies with a 130-seater each), and I'll see how it behaves, but my uneducated guess is that it will behave as if there was no opposition. If I put a third one, I'll be at the limit of frequency, I guess...but I'm not sure.

I also really felt the difference on a 800 demand very short route with a lot of opposition. Going from 8 to 12 regional jets(old F28 in that case) saw my LF down from 60% to 40%(with RI far from 100). Even with 100%RI now, my LF is rather crappy. I guess this third plane with 4 more flights was not a good idea. It did behave as if there was no opposition, and a much smaller demand.

I'm still learning this, as it's my first real game with big demands everywhere. I'm used to small routes, where one single daily flight is the maximum, and opposition is scarce. It's nearly another game. I'm not yet fully efficient in this new game.

Can you provide more details about the route?

The route has on average between 350 and 400 demand

I'm proving 300ish seats across 6 flights all the flights are evenly spaced apart.

It doesn't make sense that I would be punished for filling the demand with more frequency ?

A larger aircraft isn't really an option since that would require me to upgrade the base, to serve one or two routes...

I asked Sami some time ago which frequency is ideal for a 300 demand route. He said 4 flights (though unsure). See here: http://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,64836.msg373712.html#msg373712

As for your route, I suggest an aircraft of 80-90 seats. I am sure you'll find one suiting your base size.

I guess I'll just have to wait for the CRJ700 to come.

I guess I just don't understand why a passenger wouldn't prefer more convenient time slots :P

If there were competition then sure it makes sense but I'm supplying less than the demand and still getting penalised, that doesn't make sense.
