Business Class seating config
« on: April 15, 2015, 08:11:33 AM »
The seating config in Business Class seems to be a little off for narrowbody aircraft.

Standard business class seems to be 5 across for 737/DC9 and Premium Business Class/First Class seems to be 3 across.

Isnt 4 across a more accurate layout for narrowbodies like 737/DC9?

Typically, yes.  This is one of the thoughts I've had on my mind for awhile now but didn't ask about it.

I guess it is because in AWS aircraft pax is calculated by real lenght of the cabin.

Yeah this kinda annoys me, most real world airlines use 4 abreast in a320,737,757

You can go to 4 abreast, you just have to select premium seating.

Just checked on my 737-300, it's 5 for hing, 5 for standard, 3 for premium, 3 for luxury. In economic class, it's 6-6-5-3. In first, 5-3-2(no luxury)

Hopefully this is looked at by Sami in all aircraft models as seating is a important factor of the game

So, the seating isn't intended to match reality. The seating numbers are derived based upon the certified maximum passengers of a particular plane, and the seating you're allowed to put on it is determined from a formula. The formula doesn't consider what the plane actually had in real life or any other consideration - only the maximum certified passenger count. At some point, real life has to be simplified for the purposes of making a playable game, and quite frankly, I don't want to have to micromanage the number of seats in a row on a plane in my fleet when I'm playing this game for fun.

The only ax I have to grind with how seating configuration is done is that the MD90-30's certified max is the same as the MD80's, resulting in the same number of seats provided by the calculator even though the MD90 has a stretch beyond the 80's in the real world.
