Post-Soviet Base Closures?
« on: October 24, 2014, 12:38:16 PM »
Was anyone based in the former USSR forced to close any bases after the collapse? I thought for sure I was going to lose my Moscow hub with all the new warning messages whenever you open a base this round but it's been over a year now so I'm guessing I get to keep it. My planning assumed it was going to close so I've actually been forced to bust some really old planes out of storage for the rest of my bases. I see some airlines now split across three different countries which I was led to believe wouldn't happen anymore.

I'm glad I didn't have to shut down Moscow of course as it was my only source of stability and revenue while I worked out the mess of my Ukrainian bases (still ongoing) but I thought for sure I was going to lose it.

You will need to close all bases in any other countries. Cannot remember when it triggers though, but there was a bit time allowance for that, but not more than 18 months..

My Moscow/Kiev/Baku/Tashkent based airline was before these changes, so I could keep them.

I closed down Tashkent (voluntarely) but still operating Almaty, but I assume I will have to close it very soon and focus only on mother Russia...

It would be nice to know exactly how much time we have, maybe get specific warning messages about it.

So it is now 1995 and I am still in Moscow, I've even added a plane or two. No warnings or any other indications that I will have to close. This is really screwing up my long term planning as I've already said forcing me to keep antique planes flying. However this base is far too lucrative so I intend to keep it if I can.

Okay, in that case it isn't working like it should ..

In any case, I'd advise to prepare for closure for any base not in your country.
