Question about flight time?
« on: August 26, 2014, 11:38:54 AM »
How can a DC6 flying via another airport to cover a 3500nm route fly it once a day when a constellation takes 35 hours to do the round trip non stop?

As seen here http://www.airwaysim.com/game/Routes/Planning/YSSY/WSAP/

Zarza sky is flying via Broome, I fly direct yet how can he get that many flights into one flight number its obviously going to take much longer in the slower speed of the DC6 which has to stop for a tech stop?

In route creation you don't click all days for that route, it would not work anyways, but you create a route for each day or for 1-3-5, 2-4-6 and 7. All these routes can have the same flight number, you just must manually change it.

Thanks a ton! Also one other question, last time I played AWS which was like 2012, I always found tech stops to be more harmful than good has that changed?

Actually techstops were pretty good in the past as you were able to get all the demand. Since a year or so techstops are not as good as you mostly get a maximum of 50% of the demand.

Interesting, Mind you I've never been able to create an airline that is successful enough to survive the first wave of D checks :/

I'm curious why Zarza in this case is running tech stops to reach Singapore then?

I do feel like I'm struggling to hold on against Zarza !

Zarza is Elite member for a reason, so, yes, playing him will be a challenge.

The two month headstart does work in his favour :P

disagree, since the late starter bonus an unrestricted slot airport as hq is much more power then a player starting at a crowded airport.

Not if you're both playing from a crowded slot restricted Airport, Though I do seem to be holding my own on the YBBN - YSSY Route. But every other domestic flight has a DC6 whacked onto it by Zarza, how does he afford the slots!

He is probably leasing 10 to 15 yr old a/c, conserving his cash, building routes and capturing the market. I suspect he is wise enough to monitor other airlines and see where they are opening new routes, getting onto the worthwhile ones quickly. He faces tough times as the a/c age but doesn't have to scrap them, just let the leases lapse and replace with newer types, finances permitting. (Real World - Freddy Laker tried it RW but the established airlines competed just enough to force him out with massive debts.)
