Temporary Demand Surge Strategy
« on: July 16, 2014, 11:09:53 AM »
Hello

I was wondering if anyone adds capacity during demand surges like a railway strike?

It is very difficult to gear up for a temporary increase in demand e.g. additional planes take 14 days to be delivered, etc
Basically you just ride the profit wave until it is finished, not much else that you can do.

Minor changes -
- ticket price increase if LF are good
- delay C checks (risky strategy but can be ok for maybe 7 days....but use this at your own risk as it could major backfire....lol)
- no seat configs etc during the 'good times' maximise the plane availability

I usually have some planes on the tarmac that are waiting to be scheduled on their final routes.
I tend to use those during surge moments to add a litle capacity on high demand routes .

Price rises - yes, if I have time.  Should be much easier when the new price management tools are available.

good point.  Off topic but more practical I think - bringing forward checks (D) when there is a drop in demand (Bird Flu etc.)

I use the D-Check thing massively. ;)
