Pakistan's Seperation
« on: February 19, 2014, 11:18:16 AM »
Dear Mentors,

As far as I know Pakistan will seperate by 1971, as Pakistan (East side of India) & Bangladesh (West side of India)...

Now the question is, if I will have a base in Dhaka Zia before 1971 then what will happen after the seperation?

Best regards,
Tim

Pretty sure you will have to close it.

I think it's the other way round ;)

If I remember correctly, you can still operate the base in Dhaka (former East Pakistan), while you're based in Pakistan. However, you can't open a new base in Bangladesh and once you close Dhaka, you can't return.

There was case of Soviet airline base at TAS, KBP, etc... still have their base when the Soviet fell apart

But there's also case French airline had base in ALG, and when Algeria got independence, the airline was forced to close the base

There should allegedly be a warning when you open the base that you might have to close it in the future, as that was supposed to be implemented after the algerian rebels struck

I think it should be a case by case scenario. With regards to the Algerian rebels, they would most likely want to seize the airport and drive out any French airlines just as they drove out the French citizens living there. In the case of the Soviet Union, one could argue that the former Soviet states generally maintained strong ties through the CIS with Russia continuing to maintain a significant presence in some of them such as the naval base in Ukraine and spaceport in Kazakhstan. I know it has worked that way in the past so I would like some clarification because this could have a serious impact on my future planning. Given over thirty years to work with, I would still open some bases in the greater Soviet Union but I would need to be careful not to get stuck with more aircraft than I can use if I am forced to retreat into Ukraine.

I'm really confused about Pakistan now :)

Let me get the votes; open a new base in Dhaka or not :)
