So everything is going okay so far. Started out my airline with All DC-10s and 767s for crossing the Atlantic. I already ordered 40 A321-200 to start building a Domestic Network. But time to find something to replace the DC10s and 767-200.
I hit a point now that I need to order some new aircraft and start replacing my current international fleet.
Ideally, I would like to go with the A330-300 which seems like the perfect fit.
Also, I could eventually get A340 for ultra long haul flights and still be part of the A330 family for cost savings. 4 engines on a A340 vs a B777 will cost more though, so is being in the same family better than having to maintain 2 more engines per aircraft? Will having 4 engines ALLOW for faster flight times since they can fly direct without having to follow ETOPS routing? HOWEVER, production slots are so filled right now, its going to take about 4 years before I even get the A330 aircraft. I don't know if my 22 year old DC-10s could last another 4 more years!
Or I could go with the 767-300ER/400ER, which I could get in half the time(about 1.5-2 years wait right now)
I could go with the A300-600R and get one in 3 months!
Maybe staying with Airbus would be better since I have 40 A321 incoming?
Whats your opinion? Should I...
1) Order A330 and wait 4 years
2) Order 767-400ER and wait 2 Years
3) Order A300-600R and wait 3 months!
