Nighttime flights? Will they make money? Ex. Atlanta to Nerwark 2am-5am

Imho not worth it. You need more crew and have to pay for the slots. I've usually got better revenue if I have had the flight departing before 23:00 and the return flight departing after 5am. Still not ideal but at least better than 23-05 gap which you should avoid on short-haul flying.

In my experience red eye flights do not lose money.  They are nowhere near as profitable as day flights, but any profit is better than none which is what you'll get with the a/c sat on the ground all night.  Try it...if they lose money it is just as easy to remove said services.

Redeyes will make money if timed correctly. Flights leaving/arriving at 2am will not unless the route has a LOT of unserved demand.

What would be a lot better is an Atlanta to LAX and return, for example. Flying eastbound overnight. That way you can depart before 2300 and arrive after 0500.

If i recall correctly, the amount of crew depends on the number of aircraft you operate, not the amount of time you actually scheduled...correct me if I'm wrong
