AIRCRAFT LEASE SUSPENSION
« on: March 19, 2013, 12:24:00 PM »
I have a DC 9 on lease that is currently surplus to requirements - I can't figure out how to return it to the lesser. Any suggestions?

"Terminate lease" option is below the aircraft picture. If you don't see it you have to wait few ( ? ) game months. I didn't know about this feature until I checked. My newest aircrafts don't have the terminate option, but aircraft that is 0.8 years old has it.

You'll have to keep a leased aircraft for a certain percentage of the duration of the lease depending on how long the lease lasts.  If you leased it for one year, the mandatory period is 1.2 months.  The longer you lease it (3+ years) the longer that mandatory period is and the longer you'll need to keep the airplane.

Thanks folks. Small problem of cash flow means I am sitting with an aircraft that I can apply routes to or return to the lesser!

Just remember that cancelling the lease is going to cost you quite a bit money. Are you absolutely sure that you can't find any routes for the plane?

Returning an aircraft to the lessor is not going to improve your cash flow, it will do quite the contrary in short- to mid term actually.

Plus you can't return it if you are already in the red.

If you have many aircraft of the same type, go to "My Aircraft", sort by lease renewal date.  Pick the one closest to lease expiration.

If that one has a schedule to fly, transfer the schedule to an aircraft without schedule, and then terminate it.
