[-] Idea for routes shorter than the limit

This may have been thought of before, but a way to bring smaller aircraft (less than 20 seats) into the game might be to allow aircraft with less than 20 seats fly to any airport within it's range meaning no limit on how close the airport is, this would be some what realistic and encourage the use of smaller aircraft and more interesting airlines.

Airlines aside from helicopters don't really fly 30-50nm it's not worth their while. By the time they get on the plane and fly there then get off the plane the tickets are much more expensive that the time+cost it would have taken to jump on a train/drive. I can understand if it's to an island or something like in the pacific...

I doubt this would add realism. And it wouldn´t solve the "overhead" problem either.

Doesn't really happen in real life.

The special cases of this very short routes (island hops) are hard coded already as allowed ones.

Ahh I see, you see I just wanted to experiment with a short hop airline, but I think i'll wait for city based demand.

I can´t see what city-based demand should change about this. And really, how many big, successfull airlines do you know in RL based on this business model? Flying was invented to get to places far away faster, or crossing obstacles like mountains or large bodies of water.
Not for making journeys you can walk faster.

I think there should be a feature where aircraft can taxi between airports.  This would allow players to go <50nm and also avoid a hull loss incident once crashes are modeled :)  However, taxiing over a body of water would be a feat.

Not really, once Sami also lets amphibious aircraft into the game... then they can sail across, or be towed by gaily attired dolphins...
