Anyone else finding the slot cost at their base airport to be high?

That is normal. As I understand it, the more slots you have at an airport the more it will cost to purchase more, and also if a particular slot time or airport has only a few slots left, that will also increase the price. Example is a 2:00am slot at LAX will be cheaper than a slot between 20:00-23:55 because it is in less demand.  Similarly, the smallest airports in the game will have slots at a price of next to nothing because there is less demand for them.

Major airport with lots of slot availability. Seems a bit high to have a flight operated on a daily basis at any time of day cost from 350,000-500,000 in fees. I just don't remember it being this high in the past, I must have a bad memory!

Daytime slots between 14 and 15 cost $700,000 and up already at a small airport like Oslo Fornebu. It limits growth for everyone, but I don't think that's such a bad thing.. it's just annoying.

Same thing in Amsterdam.
Costs of slots are hurting badly, and I had to stop building my SH as it was unsustainable.
So I am starting LH with 767, which is way too early for my strategy as I have now 2 plane types, and hadn't plan to do so.
But I feel I will grow faster this way.
For the 1st time, it's not plane availability that is limiting my expansion.
And actually, I think it's quite nice (as I avoid spending days and nights looking at the used market! :-))

I agree, if it were not for the excessive costs of slots I'd have another 2-3 airplanes...

My issue isn't slot costs, it's lack of slots! EGLC has zero slots in the hours that are necessary to get the maximum rotation at out of our aircraft due to the opening and closing times... at the moment its five departures an HOUR!  :o

I was caught off-guard by the slot costs, but I have to say, I like it.  It is slowing things down, and creating a more deliberate play.  It's not worth doing something unless there is a real long term benefit.  I suspect it will make it harder to take on established airlines, but I also suspect it will protect airlines from predatory actions.

location, location, location : slot costs depends where the airport is, its category and the demand for them. I'm still getting zero slot costs at many of my destinations, with home slot costs not unreasonable considering the % I already own.

I'm in favour of high slot costs, entry into those fat profitable routes should be expensive, the pay-back more than compensates for this one-off cost.

Just checked my income statement so far for the year and I've paid over $35M in slots so far in this game world...

I've spent roughly 18% of my total expenses to date on slots... LOL.

Opening up a new route for me from KLAS costs between 550k to 1mil in slot costs for a 7 day a week route. Only paying roughly 50 to 100k at the other end of the route.

I'm finding it to be a bit of a trade off. You can drop $2 million to get into a major airport and fill your planes right away or you can pay $70 for a tiny airport and take forever to build up LF. I'm doing a little of both.

My main problem is the cost of flying OUT of Vienna - a lot of my international destinations cost like 50-100k it's consistently 500k for Vienna haha
