Suspicious Airline Name
« on: January 30, 2013, 06:31:07 AM »
So I saw that an airline called "Tihad" has just started operations out of Abu Dhabi. Isn't this a little too close to "Etihad" as far as name rules go? I mean all he's done is taken the E off....It would be like if I started an airline in Dubai called "Mirates", or "Laska" Air out of Anchorage....

Sigh.. I really thought you were going to mention my airline's name...

I feel unwanted  :-\

Oh right topic. Ok, well... there's a flag next to every airline to report this and other stuff. Just hit N report it. No real need to ask us forum members about it...

That's actually an inspired idea... Fair play to them I'd let them keep the name.

I'm willing to be "irit" from either Atlantic City or Ft Lauderdale. Could go with "Ghost" as an alternative.

Oh please, someone name their airline Untied! lol

I assume anagrams are okay? How about;

A Pacific Yacht?

Of course I'm not sure you want "Tease Rim" or "Meat Rise".....

How about "Ya Brash Irish Wit"?

But the best perhaps? Dawn Aerial Zen...... in fact, DIBS!  ;D

Ok, I got Air New Zealand (Dawn Aerial Zen) and British Airways (Ya Brash Irish Wit), not having much luck with Meat Rise, Tease Rim, or A Pacific Yacht.

Edit: Got em...Meat Rise and Tease Rim (Emirates)...A Pacific Yacht (Cathay Pacific)

Yep, Emirates....strangely kinky words hidden in there lol

Personally, with so many great words/names etc out there, why anyone would need to 'borrow' their name from a real life airline I'll never know.

Of course, the flip side of the argument; names are irrelevant. Perhaps giving each airline their database number ID as a default name would be sufficient? It clearly differentiates us all.

But of course, they do hold a very personal place in people's minds don't they? I know mine does, even though realistically, it's meaningless.
