Favorite Airport
« on: January 01, 2013, 11:19:12 PM »
What are everyone's favorite airports to fly into?   Mine is probably London Heathrow (LHR), aside from my good old local airport- Westchester County (HPN).

What does 'favourite' mean exactly? Coolest, best built, busiest, biggest.....

Coolest, I suppose- I mean HPN is not that cool, but it is very easy, you could show up 15 minutes before your flight boards, and still make it.

Berlin TXL. I'm therefore grateful for any delay of the new BER.

DUS|EDDL

Not only I work there, but if you know your way, possibly the easiest airport to go through in Germany :)

Also in comparison to other airports I've been to, the one with the most and comfiest smoking areas ;)

cheers,
Jona L.

I quite like the look of the old CDG terminals, nothing but proper modernist traffic machines. Shame it's a ballache to get through the airport though. Heathrow terminal 5 is quite decent for a big airport, but can't stand the rest of the mess that is heathrow though.

I prefer leaving airports, rather than arriving though. So in that sense, probably Changi airport. It is nice to get off a plane after such a stretch.

Orlando MCO is mine as it is beautifully laid out, very smart terminal and close to the theme parks   ;D

2nd is my very own Manchester in the glorious UK, due to not being dominated by any one airline the variety of carriers and a/c types is huge.

Last is LHR on my list - it is an absolute dump apart from the new T5 and I avoid if at all possible.

My vote goes to Changi:
1. Spacious terminals
2. Beautiful cabin attendant  ;)
3. A/C watching friendly, lots of place where you can stare at A/C all day
4. No long security check in line, they check at the gate

Orlando MCO is mine as it is beautifully laid out, very smart terminal and close to the theme parks   ;D

Costed me 60 USD for a cab from downtown to the airport. I was a student  >:(

I do miss their outside smoker cages filled with chavs and chavetes heading off to glorious destinations in the summer.  ;)

Landing in Kai Tak with crosswinds required some MASSIVE skill, and a good pair of balls from the pilots.... respect to any of those who flew there!

The best airport, or biggest I can remember was London Heathrow. Flew to San Fran with Virgin Atlantic on a 744 called Ruby Tuesday.

My parents landed in some pretty heavy crosswinds at Kai Tak when they lived in Hong Kong in '98. Few people have been fortunate enough to be able to witness that.

I thought we were going to be fixing that problem next year, but the light rail project they're building doesn't have a stop at the airport  ::)  Though at least it will be close so maybe the airport will have a free or cheap shuttle to the station...

I've always liked MCO, though that might be home bias  ;D
Otherwise, either PIT or MSP.

Ft. Myers (RSW) is probably one of my favorites, it is spacious and has a nice sunny feeling to it.  I also like flying in to LAS, hometown bias I guess. Plus, IAH, when they get done renovating it lol.  8)
