price matters?
« on: December 15, 2012, 08:00:07 PM »
Hey fellow CEO's,

I have a quick question for you.

Does ticket price matter in this game? Can I gain market share by giving a few percent discount on a given route?

I know this was not (really) modelled in earlier games, but I have not played for a while?

Thank you,

Mr. Kiss,
CEO of French Kiss

If you are the only person flying a route I always would increase my prices bit by bit as those passengers want to fly that route and you are the only one so they'll have to pay it, and yes, lowering prices on a specific route with competition will gain you a bit more of the market. Hope this helped :)

It depends on when the last time you played was. If it was 1.2, check this threads for some of the updates http://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,26356.0.html

There has been changed quite a lot compared to earlier games with the PAX distribution routines, oversupply warnings, frequent opening airport information page for grabbing slots and using small aircrafts for the wrong purposes.
Please check Samiīs official announcement forum for details.
Fares play a more important role than in earlier games, just "try and error" lowering/rising fares to get best results.
It will also take a longer time filling up your planes after opening a new route, since RI/CI are more important, too.
So route marketing may now be one way to speed process up as well as lowering fares.
Donīt even bother caring for that last answer, itīs nonsense. As you know, there always have been tech-stops.But new to it is a heavier penalty for using them.
