Did 9/11 happen yet?
« on: September 19, 2012, 03:53:27 PM »
I see a small drop in demand but I don't know if it's random or 9/11.

I feel that 9/11 is important enough in game (if it hits global demand) that it should be listed in World Events. It's more important to gameplay than than a country changing its flag, or Singapore Seletar Airport opening, and it's undeniably a "world event" in the usual sense of the term as well.

I've had a noticeable drop in demand and LF, so I would say yes, it just hit.

My LF% went down significantly (almost 10pp) but I am still at the same position in LF% statistics. So it must be a general decrease of demand.

It's hurting my airline as well. Though still quite healthy loads, hopefully the fuel doesn't go over 800 in the near future...

Also getting route oversupply warnings, since demand went from 80 to 60 pax on at least 5 routes.

Here's to hoping just long enough to make AMS a bit less crowded

LOL, well it is happening already. We are at 594 airlines and only few days ago (RL) there were over 620. So let's wait and see...

If your sitting on billions when 9/11 hits then there's nothing to worry about. Actually, you'll end up stronger once the demand swings back because your competition will have died out during that time.

Anyone else then actually notice that the demand drop started end of August, not after 9/11 ?

Yes, but the initial drop was only 2-3%.  The bigger drop came during 9/11 week

I posted in my alliance forum of an 8.5% drop in my loads occurring last week of August (usual drop for b-check week, then loads barely recovered to halfway back their usual level after) : I posted that before 9/11 had 'happened' : I did a overall price cut and, during the week after 9/11, my loads recovered slightly : its no biggie, just looks like the system may have slightly anticipated the 9/11 event and caught me out before I could prep my prices for it. Checking routes, it looks like a average 10% or so drop in demand has happened : as I price close to the bone, I may well have suffered faster/further than those closer to default pricing.

Other possible explanation is that the 'game' 9/11 isnt fixed to that date precisely and may be a bit 'random' on when effects kick in. Whatever, with a new fuel spike kicking in at the same time, its going to get very interesting...

Actually some parts of the world are more effected then others I think. I wish I was only dealing with 10% less demand... on average.

I noticed my flights from CA to US just dropped slightly in LF, while the return routes were affected more.

Major drops in LFs and Profits again............ :( :( :'( :'( From average 60-70% to barely 50%.

Hope I can still pull in at least 50M/week profit compared to the 90M/week pre-"9/11"

If credit ratings of D are an indicator of how many people have been caught out by 9/11 Pax demand drops, then there are some big airlines going down.

Two weeks in a row I see a small increase in number of pasangers transported. Could it be that the worst is over?
