Dash 8-300 vs ATR 42-500 # of cabin crew
« on: September 02, 2012, 12:42:56 PM »
I notice that the ATR 42-500 only requires 1 cabin crew versus 2 for the Dash 8-300.  I assume that's because the ATR 42 only has 50 passengers in default config versus 53 on the Dash 8?  If you reconfigure the Dash 8 for 50 seats will the game automatically use only 1 cabin crew?

I suppose there's a bigger question here for all airplanes types with respect to the number of cabin crew required depending on the seating config.  Does the game always use the default number of cabin crew listed when inspecting an airplane type or will it adjust depending on seating config?

I see the Saab 2000 with a default config of 58 seats only requires 1 cabin crew so the number of cabin crew required can't be based on a regulatory requirement.

Talking about Turbo Prop, what do you guys think of hte Xian MA600? It seems to me like an interesting product with a much cheaper cost than competition. Even so, it only commended 15 firm orders as of today. How come?

Not actually sure if this is correct ...

It MAY be, but if someone can dig up a source, would be nice.

which covers US aviation rules :

(a) Except as specified in §121.393 and §121.394, each certificate holder must provide at least the following flight attendants on board each passenger-carrying airplane when passengers are on board:

(1) For airplanes having a maximum payload capacity of more than 7,500 pounds and having a seating capacity of more than 9 but less than 51 passengers—one flight attendant.

(2) For airplanes having a maximum payload capacity of 7,500 pounds or less and having a seating capacity of more than 19 but less than 51 passengers—one flight attendant.

(3) For airplanes having a seating capacity of more than 50 but less than 101 passengers—two flight attendants.

(4) For airplanes having a seating capacity of more than 100 passengers—two flight attendants plus one additional flight attendant for each unit (or part of a unit) of 50 passenger seats above a seating capacity of 100 passengers'

I'd assume these regulations are fairly universal : but it does look like the Saab 2000 requires 2 FA's for US service?

Yes, I know the FAA/CAA rules, but that is not what I meant .. (there are exceptions to this)

I have used these in the past. They are a good option. Cheap to acquire and no delay.
