MD 80 Maintenance - What gives?
« on: June 06, 2012, 06:23:00 AM »
I am wondering why the C check maintenance for the MD81 costs 40% more then the 737-300. I understand that it is a larger aircraft, but it seems out of proportion with other fleets. MD81 C check is 12% higher then the 767-200 (very larger aircraft) and the 727-200ADV only costs 8% more (12 years older and 1 extra engine).

The cost depends also on the plane condition and age.

I believe he's talking about new planes.

I am talking about aircraft fresh off the assembly line. Is there another variable that affects maintenance base cost?

ah, I see. There is also a fleet group specific maintenance cost setting, that seems to be the cause ... adjusted a bit for future.
