With fuel under 700, it is a frequency war

Just a quick count from aircraft global stats, I got 36,000 aircraft in service.  MT5 ended with about ~22,000 aircraft flying.  So it may be challenging to start now, since most of the routes are supplied...

Thanks! That's what I needed to know. A total waste of credits to join at this point.

If there is a fuel price spike that bankrupts some airlines, there may be some opportunities for new airlines...

I am sick of waiting for a fuel spike....down to $586 now.   My ultra efficient, 777 free, fleet is prepared and ready for any fuel price   ;)

I joined it it..found a tiny south American airport..but impossible to start up an airline with used old turbo props at this time.  :-[

I tried on a European airport too, market was not saturated, but perhaps I just didn't have patience to run 2 airlines at the same time..especially as MT needed alot of attention.

Yeah, can't wait too. If you can't destroy competitor yourself, let fuel do the job  :)

You can't force out a competitor when 45% lfs make you profit

I joined about 2 weeks ago and worked out just fine. Have not paid any attention in last 4 days or so, but seems that my F100 fleet is still up and running, with nice profits.

Extremely high availability of used planes, did find uncompeted routes but you really have to understand that you cannot expect to be able to start an airline with all routes available. You must "dare" to step into competed routes.

edit: $16mil cash I see. should do some investments.

Sami, if the airlines were this profitable, there'd be more price competition.

Price doesn't do enough to affect pax demand so, simply flood routes and win.

I agree.. I could cut fares to $1.00 a flight and my load factor should be 100% .. but in the game, it doesn't have that much effect..

In reality, a 737-800 costs 350.000 USD per month on a lease, in this game its over a million. So it's not really this realistic anyway.

Well in reality you have dozens of different costs not modelled here (yet, or ever), so bringing one single value is rather unnecessary.

And $1 fare does not mean 100% LF automatically either.

But this is rather off topic already.

Yes

I started about 3 weeks ago in this game after the Jet Age game ended.  After being a bitb unsuccessful at Glasgow I am doing OK at Liverpool.  Starting off slow with fairly local flights.  Best to get a high frequency and low fuel flights not too far from your airport.  Just made a big mistake at amerstam as I didn't really look at the cost of the route and was merrily adding routes to by plane and I went from $1m in the green to $1m in the red.

Anyway the short answer is yes, you can join but be careful about the airport and planes you choose.

I started about 1.5 weeks ago (real time), just when fuel prices were starting to decline. Managed to build pretty profitable fleet of 60 B737-400. Now as fuel is rising i'm well prepared and my competitor who started earlier then me is bleeding cash (combined with my seats dumping) :)

Nice, my company got a $4 tax return. Four. And did not forget "million" word. Just four. My virtual accontants have been efficient..

Perhaps I should order couple of A380s with this money..
