707-120
« on: March 16, 2012, 07:46:10 PM »
Over 300 ordered...  wow.  this plane will be obsolete in about 5 years.  I'm shocked so many people are willing to jump in line.  You do know you can NOT convert those orders over to new 707 models, right?  Thoughts?

It may not be the bee's knees after 5 years, but firstly, it blows the rest of the planes out of the water when you get them, and second, it remains useful till the wings fall off as long as fuel doesn't get too bad, which it simply doesn't in JA.

Im just referring to all the upcoming 707s that will come out.  They dominate this 707.   It would really suck to have to use these with tech stops only to have to reschedule your entire fleet again when you get 707s with the range.    The only way to save the aggravation is to get these than wait for the 747/dc10.

Do they all share commonality? All 707s that is?

yes, all 707 share fleet commonality.  Their engines can differ, though.

My other main point is that people will still be getting -120s years after the -320s are ready because they won't be allowed to switch.

Ahh I get your point now. I guess at this point its just more important to get any jets at all before everyone else. And as slots are filling up it wont really be any disadvantage because noone else is able to get those slots. However it might change if the production speed is increased and other players later can come in.

I really cant wait until I get to use my boeings! Will be fun  :)

Even though it will be obsolete, I want constant flow of fresh a/c, which means ordering the crappy stuff too, so that the line won't break off. As soon as the 320 comes out I'll continue ordering her, but yet the-120 is the only option for a 707.

Its a headache headache headcahe haedahce blurrrrrr!!!!!!!.............free headaches garanteed on the release of a 707 with range of more than 3000nm all economy, so 3500 with a good config!

Slots wont match when you take out the tech stop, arrival times will be screwed and some ending up before 0500am, so no money............enjoy your 707-120s guys............all just to have a jet when the prop is king atleast till 1965.

I agree and it'll be great on my North American Transcons! Already ordered one.

It can still be made to work. You just have to pick and choose what you do with it. I have had it work that early before. ;)

I think you will like them 100 minute turnaround for less than 1% delay chance, Super VC10 will get 4190 range with 133 pax in three standard classes versatile and fast.  I had nearly 60 by the end of JA5.  Just wish Vickers had a jet equivalent of the 111 you could easily have an all Rolls Royce engined Vickers fleet.

Would also have liked to see the VC7 based on the Valiant Bomber which would have been a Comet beater among the prototypes.

I'm sitting back and taking all the alternatives into consideration including Soviet junk and failed prototypes. It's going to be a while before I get the demand to fill something like a 707 in my obscure little corner of the world (we haven't struck oil yet in 1956). I've never been one to jump on the bandwagons and wait decades anyway.

The 2700NM range is great in the NA. Its a huge continent and its definately too big for those old props. Unless your passengers has alot more patience than mine...
