Slot Cost's
« on: March 13, 2012, 02:40:03 PM »
Hi,

I have just taken a slot from Manchester ( UK ) at 06:15 and
have been charged over 116K for the one slot and then
at 17:00 over 72K for a slot, that's just short of 200K
for two departure's? this is supposed to be 1955! surely this is
wrong?, and how can people be opperating well over double
figure DC6B's, when it is only May in the first game year? are
they paying a lot less for slot's? obviously I would say, but
why is that so? If slot charge's are so high you can't afford to
schedule that many aircraft.

Any info would be useful before I Bankrupt myself.

Cheers,

Steve.

DC-6 are cheaper to schedule than, say, DC-3 because they may only fly 1-2 times per day whereas smaller props may fly 3-4 meaning two to three times the slots to fly small planes.

No, sorry I think your missing the point of what I said,
being that for two slot's I've been charged 200K, and as
it was they were for a DC6 flight. on that basis It cost's
more to book a slot than purchase a plane!.

Well I don't know what to say to that. It's just the way the game is: slots are expensive when you start up.

My above post illustrates why, to stop the slot hogging with smaller planes.

If its any consolation I'm also paying 100k upwards for a week of slots.

I think it is good that the slots are expensive. I've been around in Airwaysim since beta, and oh boy how some airlines were able to grow fast when the slots were half free. "Magic red carper" or what was that one airline...  ::)

It's a playability factor. The consequences without this would be far less realistic and far less enjoyable.

Which was possible because the lower slot costs.  ;D Anyway, that was one of the most epic airlines ever.

First spend all your money on aircraft purchases/whatever and then schedule your routes. You can schedule even without money on hand, you will go into red but most likely you'll have enough money to pay your loan payment and avoid trouble. Sometimes I'm up to 1 mil in red after scheduling, but within 12 hours I'm 1 mil in black ;) that way all your slot cost problems magically go away ;)

80k for slots is nothing. Try getting a slot into or out of a top10 airport like LHR. HUGE. But if you want to fly there you have to pay

No I just wanted to fly a small Greece airport(It is really small)  but after that there is no point to fly there. 80k for a slot and who knows that how many months  I will cover the slot cost.

Enough moaning on the slots

Come to London Heathrow then you can throw you toys...........I am planning to takeoff and land on the grass next to LHR to avoid slot costs, as its a toss up between leasing 2 DC6s or getting 5 slot times..... hence my lack of aircraft and money, I am what you call slot rich....or is it s*** rich, like them too!!!!!

If slots where cheap I would have CL46s all over by now, thank goodness for the price, less work for me.

LOL I consider slots of around 100K to be quite cheap now. I understand why they are so expensive, but we just have to deal with it. Around about 10% of my total expenses of the year have gone to slot costs.  ;D
