Something great magically changed for iPad users
« on: January 03, 2012, 01:28:19 AM »
I have never been able to view the supply demand chart for a route on my iPad. But for some strange reason, this has changed and as of yesterday, the interface is fully functional with iPad. This means I will whip but starting today! :P

Reading the news is always a good thing:  ;)

Yes, reading the news is always a great thing. But you know what is also great? Thinking that my biggest limitation and complaint on aws usability changed magically overnight. As in Sami fixed this and then took a rabbit out of his hat (but what Sami did with the rabbit is totally not of my business)

In my opinion, Microsoft excel is a huge part of running aws. Since excel in iPad sucks, I can't migrate away from pc just yet. But you never know!

But I Must say, the site is 100% mobile compatible. That is huge. All you need now is a good app on the market and aws will be competing for market share with air tycoon 2 and the other silly sim apps for iPad..... Do I smell growth in Sami's revenue stream??!! ;D

Hmm excel, you mean for calculate revenue and so on?

I agree with a new app for iPad and iPhone you would rock!!! But for me having the supply demand graph is already a huge improvement and u don't know how important is for iPad users, I bought one coz I can't spend much time on my home pc of and my laptop simply to heavy to Carry around... Nice present Sami!!!! 8)

Works perfectly on my android tablet (chinese clone with 2.3.4), both with opera and default browser. Try installing flash plugin, charts should work without it now but you never know (HTML5 support might be limited in standard browser) :)

It also worked on 2.2 before I upgraded.

Read somwhere that you are in charge of a fund in NYC, maybe time to start considering an investment in AWS?  ;)

Yea but that doesn't change the fact that the playbook is better :p

For instance, Thomas Cook are struggling to keep their head above water, but they are still better then Ryan Air :)

One additional issue with mobile browsers are the "lightbox" popups. ie. when you click route planning icon on open route screen, it opens to the new popup over the current window with dark background. These do not work very well on iPad for example, the positioning of the window is wrong and scrolling inside of the popup is difficult.

Two options.

a) try to find another similar modal popup script that works
b) just replace all popups in mobile browsers to open a completely new tab/window to browser.

For option a) please try out for me the colorbox add-on: http://jacklmoore.com/colorbox/example4/

Please try the 'Outside HTML (Ajax)', 'Outside Webpage (Iframe)' and 'Inline HTML' links on mobile browsers, and let me know that:

 - does the popup open propely, so that it is placed at the current scrolling position of the screen. In other words do you see the WHOLE popup without having to scroll the main (background) page

- on the "outside webpage" popup, can you scroll the popup window content without problems?  (ipad, two-finger or one-finger scroll)

..etc.

I'm on the road so cannot test other than with my Lumia 800, and it's not that perfect on it... So it may be easier for compatibility just to open a whole new window for the popups on mobile users.

Had problems with all 3 examples on my iPhone. Mainly that they would not stay still upon zooming or scrolling.

A new tab would work fine for me. Right now can't configure aircraft because of te popup issue on iPhone Safari.
