Unexpected(?) end of Tu-124 production...
« on: November 15, 2011, 01:50:46 PM »
I wonder if this is a bug or just obscure game mechanics...

08-Sep-1962 - Warning about production closure in 6 months
between end of 62 and 63 I ordered 4 aircrafts...
There was no information about restarting production, and 63 passed without the production line being closed...
and suddenly without any other warning production has ended on 08-Jan-64....

Naturally I'm left with 5 (out of 8 in the world) planes which were supposed to be backbone of my shorthaul jet service... and no idea what to do with it since I was about to order them today....

Is it a Bug or WAD?

To allow a production line to continue, at least 5 aircraft must be ordered in one go.  Your order wasn't big enough to make it "worth it" for Tupolev to continue production.

Should've signed a LOI  ;D ;)

sounds logical, but how come it was closed a year after it was supposed to close? :-)

argh, at least I'm a sole operator and no one else can claim tu124s... now I only have to hunt down 2 remaining planes on used market :D

See below:  You possibly have a feature request to add???

MESSAGE 1:  8-Sep-1962

Tupolev has announced that they are planning to close the production of their Tupolev Tu-124 aircraft.

There are not enough firm orders for this model in order to be able to keep the production line open any longer. Tupolev is planning to close the production of this model after 6 months from today - unless new orders are placed.

MESSAGE 2:  8-Jan-1962

Tupolev has ended the production of their Tupolev Tu-124 aircraft.

The manufacturer has been unable to secure new firm orders for this model and the production line has been shut down today. No more new orders for this model can be placed anymore.

WHAT YOU DIDN'T SEE:

The production lines of Tupolev Tu-124  will not be closed although so previously announced.

The manufacturer, Tupolev, has received new orders for this aircraft model and the production line will not be closed yet. Tupolev is also open for negotiations with other new customers.
