707-320 B ADV Profits?
« on: November 11, 2011, 05:54:43 PM »
I was wondering how well 707 320B Adv.'s do on routes around 1000-2000 nm in this era. Thanks.

They work fine, but perform better on longer routes.

Yep, you should be able to fly the birds for a few game years on a profitable basis, as in preceeding DotM scenarios. But don't expect miracles.

According to DOTM2, it was the killing reason for quite a lot of airlines.

I used them in DOTM out of GMP, it gives me opportunity to expand fast in long-haul (occupy slots in LHR  ;)) Using 707 depends on your need and strategy. Undoubtedly it is an easy start-up for longhaul service but it will be very painful when fuel spike.

My advice is "plan your fleet replacement beforehand".  ;)

This game is all new to me guys and on that basis, I do have 707s in my fleet now. When does the fuel spike come into effect i.e. when should I have got myself sorted out by? Appreciate your input on this ....

Fuel prices are custom in this scenario as well, so no historic guide to tell. Generally, we know one trend for fuel: Up.

Im using 707-320B ADVs but even before I saw this possible warning I've had them all on fairly short leases. At the moment, they looked to be the best available used option left when I got started late in day one. The profit margin has been rather narrow so I am concerned at what might happen when fuel inevitably spikes; although my load factors have also of course been rather low to start off. I figure once my image improves and I get more passengers, these planes should do just fine for now. If not, I can phase them out completely within four years.

Hmm, make that phasing out start rather in 18 months...

At least one of them will be gone in the next year but are there any similar used planes to be had as far as range and capacity? If fuel becomes that serious in the near future, the best I can find to significantly reduce my fuel consumption is to try and order new planes that wont be out for a few years.
