757-200 default seat change
« on: August 15, 2011, 04:04:28 AM »
I was looking at the 757-200, and noticed the ranges had changed from DOTM. Wondered if things had been recalculated, if fuel loads, etc had changed, so had a closer look.

Turns out the only change is that in DOTM, the default config is 186Y, 15C, all standard seats. In MT, the default is now 174Y, 15C, again all standard seats. The plane size hasn't changed, and an MT plane can be reconfigured to 186/15 with comfort levels remaining at 'good' for both, exactly the same as 174/15. So basically, the MT default config is to leave two rows of empty space. Seems a very strange change to make, and can't find a thread on it. One for the bug forum, or a deliberate change?

Its a deliberate change (reasons unknown to myself), so no need for a bug report.

I saw the change but didn't think to check the 'configurator' to see if you can go back to the old default. This does seem an odd change to make. Does anyone know the reason for this change (other than to increase the cost of maximizing the efficiency of the a/c when bought used -- perhaps that is the reason)?

Perhaps to make the default more in line with RL configurations? Aside from charters, it is hard to find major carriers that put more than 190 seats on a 752 in a 2 class layout, and most are closer to 175/180.

Okay -- that makes sense.  Thanks.

It could be done to give a plane just a little more range.
