fleet commonality
« on: July 16, 2011, 04:18:48 PM »
Just to understand that... I started my airline with 1 MD87, 1 B722, 3 B732 and I payed about 900k for the MD87 and B722 and 1000k for the B732 for fleet commonality... (all had more ore less the same engines... JT8D) ... then I had to restart the game... I wasn't able to fly profitable... so I thought, this time I will only use 2 types... so 2 B722, 3 B732 ... and now, I pay 550 k for the B722 and 490k for the B732 ... why is that? ... why did the MD87 influence the B722 and B732 ?? ... or is there something else I overlooked??

Yes--when you add 1 fleet type, the cost of all the fleet types goes up.  Most players will tell you that you shouldn't add a 2nd fleet until you have 20+ planes in your 1st fleet.  Considering your aircraft choices, there really shouldn't be any reason to have more than 1 fleet type in the beginning.  You should stick to the MD80 or 737 to start to keep costs as low as possible.

oh... interesting... I thought, that a different type adds an additional base-price to your costs, but not that other types will cost more... anyway... thanks for this info

I always say that the costs. Go up because all techs have to be trained on all planes.

I disagree, while the game does increase the cost for existing fleet groups, logic says it shouldn't as you could have separate techs for each fleet group.

I know it isn't the truth.  I just like to tell myself that.
