Are they worth it? I know they are still sitting on the used market because most people can't afford them or don't have the demand, but will the big guys run them? Will they pretty much damn me into bankruptcy if I run them when the fuel prices reach $900?

Thanks

Not really.  There will be 400ER and -8 that are more fuel efficient.  So you can get a 400 and replace it later on within the same fleet group...

it worth if you have many route with demand to fill a 744,you can make 2mil per week(at previous version, not sure 1.3).
Take the used 744 and replace it with 777-300(+36.3 tn MTOW) or 77W later.

okok, I'll go for 772ER now and wait until the 77W comes out. I'm pressing myself to only use 3 fleet types so I only have a limited option  :-\ . Thanks guys.

I don't recommend using 772ER..unless you are a 777 freak like me. ;D
use A333 or 332 will save you a lot money..
A333 VS 332 VS 772
PAX 280 258 285
CHEAPEST RENT1 911 860 USD 1 737 620 USD 2 571 820 USD
min. turnaround 80mins 80mins 100mins
min. fuel burn 5240kg 5860 kg  6720 kg

I'll keep expanding on A330/340 then  :P . Then wait for the 77W
