Replacement Fleet?
« on: May 20, 2011, 12:27:23 AM »
Hey everyone!

I just have a quick question about possible fleet replacements. I am currently flying out of Guam with a small fleet of 767's and 747's. However, these planes are aging and leases are already beginning to expire. I have finally gotten the cash needed to begin somewhat of a fleet replacement, while still being able to continue expanding. I am currently looking at placing a large order for B767-300ER and -400ER's, and the B777 to replace the B747's. However, I am looking at Airbus in order to take advantage of the A330/340 family and save on fleet costs. If anybody has any tips it would be appreciated! Thanks!

The 767-400ERs print money.

If you don't need the higher range of the bigger A330/A340 variants or the bigger pax variants and if B767-400ER already has been released it's the better choice.

Airbus - -300s print money just the same as the 764ERs, but you take advantage of the fleet commonality and therefore the range/configuration options. ;)

Cheers,

A333 is an excellent plane as well, and useful in terms of fleet commonality since you have a large range of capacity in the A330/A340 family

The A330/A340 family consumes much more fuel and needs 9 instead of 6 crew.

An advantage of the A330-300 might be it needs much less runway (2500m vs. 2890m).

Again, if you just need this one aircraft, the B767-400ER makes you more money because of the lower cost (fuel, crew). But it just gives you smaller aircraft in the same fleet group, while the A330/A340 group gives you bit larger aircraft and some with extremely more range.

Totally Agree with King. I am running 767/2/3 and 400ER fleets on similarly ranged routes and the 400ER makes approximately $600,000 more per week than the nearest 300ER Series  (thats with fuel at $1050) and the 200 series well lets jsut say they are breaking even.  What ios so good about the 767-400ER, is the higher seating capcity and 3 class default cabin over the 200 and 300ER series so that helps profitability as it can carry far more than the other types can, but its the fuel burn of approx 4200kg is what makes the 400ER so good.   :)
