707's
« on: May 15, 2011, 02:37:12 PM »
I'm guessing that the 707's don't make money as there are so many sitting on the used market?

That's a question that can't be answered in general.

However, B707 can make good money.

707s can be used quite useful early on if they're set up with the right config.

I think the majority of players have just selected more profitable aircraft to start with.  Once there are no other alternatives the 707s will probably disappear too.

As far as I can see most players have, as usual, taken ANY aircraft. Mostly because they are build by Boeing or they saw a documentation in the TV about them. :>

The B707 for example is the perfect aircraft if you want to serve bigger routes over 1000nm and if you can't be online F5-ing lots of time to get some aircraft that aren't available this much.

But stick to what Daveos said - the right config is important to make them earn (good) money in DotM.

These things bleed money in modern scenarios as they require too much fuel and too many pilots/crew.  However, you should be okay with the much lower fuel prices in DOTM :)

747's will be taken after all DC-10s are taken. ;D

God I hate 707s. They spam my used market shortlist! Spam, spam spam and beacon with blueberry and spam.

My 707's are making better money than my B727-200Adv's. even when they are all in high density economy/ 2 class layout. I only operate the 707-420 though and that has the best capacity AND fuel economy.

This will change if you have competition and lower load factors. At the moment you fly routes without competition or routes that have competition and still aren't filled up. Also your routes are very short with allows more flights a day.

But like I said in my first posting. B707 can make good money, but under special circumstances.

In the coming years another major factor affecting the profitability of the B707 is fuel prices and at that stage they will be truly non financially viable and will have to be replaced by B722Adv, B757 or later the B737-400.

And I completely agree with what you said about the config affecting profitbility, after I taylored each aircraft to the specific route requirements profits more than doubled. :)

It seems things have changed. :)

No offense, just good luck for the future. ;)
