Master List of Airplane Acronyms
« on: April 16, 2011, 03:10:02 PM »
Sometimes I just don't know exactly what planes I am flying against.

When I look at the route screen, there are those 4 digit acronyms.

Now, I know most of them, but there are some that simply evade me.  Can someone please create a master list of these things for me?

Perhaps this could get added to the airplane screen somewhere?

To be honest.. They're all quite obvious and the ones that are really vague are mostly too insignificant.

I 90% agree with you.

1.  There are many new players and non-aviation experts on this board.
2.  In the older games (50s-60s) there are just many types people are not familiar with.

Not to beginners who aren't very familiar with aviation.

A type list is a great idea to create as a reference page somewhere in the game (or perhaps individual types could have their full names and designations displayed in mouse-over tooltips activated by a placing the cursor over type abbreviations in the game?).

Here is the FAA's complete list of type abbreviations out of Order 7110.65, Appendix 'A':
