CI won't go higher than 20
« on: March 28, 2011, 06:40:42 AM »
I've noticed that my CI is at 20 and won't go up any further and according to the statistics 20 is the highest anybody has.

Can't start a 2nd campaign at the moment as right now over 50% of my ticket income goes to marketing.

I've added the largest campaign for me (world / TV), let's see what that does.

Despite heavy initial marketing, my CI will not go past 20 either. i have since backed off to prevent wasted money.

I find this to be very aggravating, load factors won't go any higher unless the CI goes up. And quite frankly that's how you make money on this game.

It would be useful to get this moving along...

Out of interest, was TV advertising really viable in the 50's?  Or should it be delayed, like the internet is until it's launch date?

TV began the get common in the US in early 50s.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_introduction_of_television_in_countries

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_television

While only 0.5% of U.S. households had a television set in 1946, 55.7% had one in 1954, and 90% by 1962.[107] In Britain, there were 15,000 television households in 1947, 1.4 million in 1952, and 15.1 million by 1968.

Erm guys, this happens in every gameworld. There is a cap on how fast your CI can go up, which means that whether you spend 50 million dollars or 5 million, you are still spending too much, since your CI will go up at exactly the same speed.

Everyone's CI was stuck at 20 for about two months game time... pretty sure that's not intentional, is it?

No. It isn't normal for the CI to be stuck like that. Also, the person who spends 50 million will get a higher CI faster than a person who spends 5 million. That is the point of adding multiple marketing campaigns in different places and with different stuff.

More money is more growth, but the rate of increase caps off.  That's why so many people stay at precisely the same increase in a game-world, particularly early-on when it's easy to exceed whatever that limit is starting from 0.

But, regardless, getting 'stuck' is not normal.  The rate of increase caps off but it doesn't stop progressing altogether.  Well, it does have 'stops' along the way to 100 that have to be surmounted with ever-larger increases in funds, but someone should have far exceeded that expenditures at a CI of just 20.

Yeah, like getting past a CI of ~80. Boy, you sure do have to throw a ton of money in marketing to get over the 80 hump. It is almost ridiculous.

Got my CI to 20.54 before deciding the capitol wasn't worth it and I'd take the extra profits for starting off.

It all makes sense considering the era.

I was thinking that the reason we were capped at 20 is because we started at 20.

Normally we start at 5. So maybe the system thought we were "over" the capped rate increase and therefor didn't let anyone go higher?

That's my theory anyway  :-\
