Thats a pretty vague question.

What do you intend on using it for?

In general, the MD-11 wasn't a good seller and wasn't a huge improvement over previous generation tri-motor jets...

However, is you replace your DC-10s with it, you'll get more range with 10 more seats. The MD11ER is even better in that respect.

If you need a twin-engine instead, you'll need a 777-200ER to match it in range and capacity. The A330-200 is equal in range, but carries fewer passengers. But I'd expect that to be in the future (not playing this game).

Well, if you are setting up a 7-day rotational schedule with your MD11s, make sure that you include several (if possible) routes that are shorter than 4-5000NM to push profits as high as possible. Routes over 5-6000NMs are hard to make a large profit with, and considering leasing costs if you don't own the aircraft, you'll need that.

Good luck!  :)

The MD11 was short lived for a reason.

Personally, I think it was a pretty airplane.  Sadly, as said before, it was only marginally better than the planes it replaced.  It was like adding winglets and a glass cockpit to a DC10-30er.  The 777 and 744 owned it.  This is one of the major reasons MD failed as a company.

Everybody is missing one vital point: availibility! You can order them and get them one every month! Try that with a Boeing!

I go for a lower profit but rapid expension!

You got it !
Its actually available, you dont have to wait 3-5-7 years!  Of course, the 777s, A330-340 are more efficient, but MD11 is actually not bad at all and its a 2 pilot cockpit vs 3 for DC10, excellent range and not bad fuel economy.  And by the time you will receive those more efficient planes, your MD11s will be owned.  All in all, its a very good choice for this time in the game.

As for the delivery times i completely agree, ive used the MD11 in at least two previous games.
In this one i decided to use the L 1011, amazing aircraft. Its main downside is its limited range but it has the highest cruise speed of all at 0.86 which it makes up for.
