how to replace 260 vicounts :)
« on: February 04, 2011, 10:57:44 PM »
hi guys,

i just love the jet age.
what players do not understand, is the real dealing with the changes in earlier time (check out how many we are.... only left 50% players  :'( )

so. i decided to make an experiment.
lets see if it works:

i have round about 260 viscounts and i will replace them all. alone the handling of 900 engines cost me 2 mil/month  :o (not speaking about the fleet comm with 9 mill./month)
to make sure, that i will not have to fire sooooooooo many of the medium pilots, i bought the B-111 in all series (not the 475 because it sucks). finally i will have about 100 BAC-1-11-500 at the end of the game. i will replace definitely all B-1-11-200 and the most of my -400. Because there is not the possibility to get so much so fast, i have to use the DC9-10 and DC9-30 (would be nice, if sami explain to me why the DC9 is categorized as a large a/c *cough*)

what do you think, could this work ?
the rate i have now is 5 viscounts for 3 jets.
not so bad.....

what do you think, could this work and WILL it work ?

Why won't you keep them and D-check them?

there are a lot of bac 1-11 on the market.
so or so i buy them all by the time.
i also use now the dc91 and will use the dc93.

i think, i hope, till the end of the game i will have replaced all my props.

The 1-11-500 is a fantastic plane, very economical for an early small(ish) jet.... I don't see why it wouldn't work :)

the bac 1-11-500 is the absolute best, you are right.
viscount is working with 2 pilots +1.
the bac only has 2 so i have to fire some. but so or so.
i will save maintenance costs a lot, i guess......

But you will spend a lot on fuel.

Not only fuel, operating jet a/c costs more than turboprops ;)

The 1-11-500 is very efficient for a small Jet. The extra seats and the low fuel price at the moment means the extra fuel doesn't really matter.

Also, when you think about it the Viscount uses 1800 lbs of fuel ph and the 1-11 5200 lbs. The 1-11 is almost twice as fast as the Viscount so spends almost half the time in the air, so the difference isn't as large as you think. Plus you get more flights per day so lower staff costs.

the viscount is very great if it is new.
if it becomes older, it sucks.
believe me, because i am the biggest operator of them.

My very first factory new Viscount 800 is approaching 10y and it's doing just fine. And mine are older than yours...

it depends how you use them.
for short haul, they might be good.

but: i have 70 viscounts or so in chicago for routes > 600 NM
and that is a problem. they are not that fast and do not carry enough people.
if you check my a/c details, you can find out, that i will replace all B111-2/3/4
with the -500 and also all dc91 with dc93.
i cannot use viscounts in the 1970's mostly..... demand is growing.

but everybody makes his own experience.
