I'm looking around and people are constantly saying no good used aircraft, etc. And then the B737/A320 production line is about 2.5 years behind. So if you were to place an order, you won't get it until 2.5 years later.

So my question is, why are people not considering the B717? Its relatively cheap and you can get the aircraft 10x faster than the B737. I know the B737 is a better operating cost but do you really want to wait 3 years? In 3 years worth of time, you can have 30 B717s already before you even get your first B737.

I wouldn't settle for the 717 and rather instead wait for the EMB-195. Better deal all around for only a year wait.

One doesn't "settle" for a 717. I've been on them on more than a few occassions and it was quite pleasant. I got to ride on one of TWA's until they went bye-bye. AirTran has a pretty nice layout too. I would also venture a guess that a 717 is a more comfortable, roomy ride than any EMB. Besides they are frequently available and a main component of this game (well not this particular game it seems) is to keep growing and expanding. Why noy not lease a 717 for a year and see how it does for you? Then you can try it, then if you think the EMB's may be better for you don't lease the 717 after a year. Just click off the auto renew and it will still give you a chance to keep the 717 or ditch it.

I have built many airlines where the 717 is part of my fleet. They are excellent for routes less than 1000nm. Don't try to use them to their full range or you will bankrupt yourself. They are also excellent for starting new bases. I had about 25 of them and would use them to start a new base and then move in 737 to take their places.

Yall are right about it being useless after 1,000 miles. I have know people at airtran and they  say they lose money on flights longer than 2 hours unless the plane is full. I noticed on this game how ever you cant configuration the 712 to airtrans configuration which is 12c/117y. I know i have mine at 8c/110y and they are making a killing. But ill probly have at least 50 of them or more before the games is over there really a good plane, probly the best out of the MD family.

I thought you were only in long-hauls, swiftus...?

But yes, frequency can get you a significant edge over your competitors, with the 717 further offering the 'smaller' plane, which still tends to draw more pax in my view. Within Europe, there are sufficient routes below 1,000 miles.

FL's config is 12C/105Y, total of 117 (have done a lot of research on FL as my company recently purchased them  ;D ). I have mine at 115Y in MT3 and am making good money. I will have to install a C class on some of them, though, as I retire my 737's...
