Early closings of production lines
« on: October 09, 2010, 02:27:38 PM »
In my opinion it is wrong that the MD90 production just ended. I was planning to operate a fleet of MD90s since A320 and B737 are always so popular. But as the MD90 production line closed so early in the game I had no chance to order enough planes to keep the production line open.

So I would like to suggest that Sami sets the airplane production lines so that they don't close before 1 (?) game year has passed.

Full agreement.  I think that it was a feature request at some point.

I'm sad about it too, but the fact is that the production line closed in 2000 for the MD90. Move on, or wait for them to show up on the used market!

I believe the MD90 line closure was "already decided" to happen before the game world even started, and it was still on the 6 month grace period there but failed to extend due to lack of orders. But indeed it could have been a) closed already before it started or b) longer grace period.

I intended on using the MD90's as well as they were perfect for my routes...
Looks like I'm stuck hunting them from the used market then

I wish you luck since there are only 53 of them in the entire world, and 9 of them have already been leased...

737-3/4/5, gone. MD-8X, gone. MD-90, gone. Look like the lineup for 73NG, E-Jets, A32X will be at 1000+ each by the end of the year  :( Might be time to search out some off the beaten path options  ;)

Less planes more competition and also less expension! (again more competition!)
